Our Pride is Fabulous

Over the TGB journey, we’ve been astounded to see just how much has changed in the nail industry. There are more open conversations about the significance of inclusivity and even more so, the need to continuously keep this at the forefront of everything we do. We are among many of our peers who believe and uphold that everyone should have a voice, should be seen and celebrated.

And so this year, as we celebrate what would’ve been Brighton Pride, we take a look at some of our fabulous Brand Ambassadors we’ve been lucky to acquire along the way. Milly and Ella Shanks of @beauty_basecoat spoke to us about what Pride really means to them.

“Pride is so important to us because we are members of the community! We are married and run our business together. We have just had our first baby and feel Pride is important for the next generation to grow up knowing that being gay is normal. It brings awareness to the community and allows the members to be celebrated and accepted.”

“The nail industry is amazing for supporting the community, it’s a very nonjudgmental industry of people from every background where everyone is celebrated, not just members of the LGBTQ+ community. Keep celebrating, keep painting rainbow nails, keep talking, keep being proud!” @beauty_basecoat

Well we couldn’t have said it better! Thank you Milly and Ella (and we can’t wait to see your beautiful baby!)

We’re also delighted to support Brighton Switchboard, a local organisation that works to support LGBTQ+ through community engagement including helplines, events, health & wellbeing, trans support network as well as disabled queer people.

Brighton Pride still goes strong broadcasting online instead this year, and we all have the opportunity to donate to the artists involved in the virtual programme, We Are Fabuloso. Click here to find our more.

Remember, although we continue to celebrate, Pride was always a protest, so we encourage you to continue the learning journey of being an ally to our LGBTQAI+ community.
