Why is my HEMA-Free BIAB™ not lasting up to three weeks?

There are a few reasons to consider:

Application:

Ensure you are using the correct base coat — Bond Base. We recommend ‘scrubbing’ the base coat into the nail to improve adhesion. ‘Scrubbing’ means working the base coat into the nail plate rather than painting on with light pressure.

Nail Type:

Is your client allergic to HEMA?

If the client does not have a confirmed HEMA allergy, we recommend continuing to use the system that does work for the client as the change in formula is not necessary.

Soft/Oily nails?

The increased production of oil or excess moisture in the nail could impact longevity. If your client is not allergic to HEMA, revert to an alternative formula — such as original BIAB™. If they do have a confirmed HEMA allergy but have soft/oily nails, pay extra attention to your prep by ensuring you buff each nail plate thoroughly using your 100/180 buffer and dehydrate each nail using acetone, just before you apply product to each nail. This will minimise the amount of time oils and moisture take to reach the surface.

Time:

The change in formula may also only keep your client’s nails looking great for two weeks, instead of their usual three, as it reacts to the nail type. Consider more frequent appointments to improve overall longevity.
